Who are we?
The Muslim Vote (TMV) is a dynamic coalition of organisations and individuals, each contributing various skills, expertise, and capabilities for the Muslim community. TMV represents Muslim organisations across the nation including grassroots civic organisations, media outlets and businesses. We have a simple goal to effect political change on issues that affect Muslims.
Context
The civil war in Sudan has been catastrophic leading to the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. The UN reports that currently 260,000 civilians including 130,000 children are trapped under siege in El Fashir, North Darfur. Reports also claim 2000 people were killed in 48 hours in what Sudanese groups call
the El Fashir Massacre starting on 26 October 2025, as the UAE backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia closed in on the city.
On January 7, 2025, the US Government formally accused the RSF of committing genocide. Additionally in October 2023, our then International Development Minister, Andrew Mitchell MP claimed that ethnic cleansing was taking place in Sudan.
UK Complicity
Despite the allegations against the RSF both UK and USA officials, RSF militants have been found with British military equipment supplied by the UAE, once again, making the UK not only complicit in genocide but a profiteer from these horrific crimes against humanity.
Reports also emerging of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy prime minister of the UAE, is the brains and a beneficiary of the UAE’s political operations in Sudan, which has led to their backing of militant group the RSF. It is claimed that the leader of the RSF, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, provides the UAE with gold as the UAE is not a natural producer of gold but is one of the worlds largest exporters of the mineral.
Sudanese Refugees and the UK
As the UK indirectly arms this deadly militia, 14 million people in Sudan have become displaced over the last two years since the civil war broke out. Famine has been declared in Sudan and there are outbreaks of cholera. There have also been reports of mass rape by the RSF and attacks on healthcare workers
including abductions of medical staff. The situation is unliveable, and tens of thousands of people are forced to flee on foot. UK Government statistics say that Sudanese nationals are in the top 5 common nationalities arriving in the UK by small boats. Many of these people will be fleeing from the ongoing
genocide in Sudan in which the UK has direct involvement in. Most refugees do not want to leave their homes, they just want to be able to live in safety, provide for their families and have access to the same basic rights we all demand for ourselves.
What are we calling for?
The UK arms licensing system is not fit for purpose. British arms have been used in two of the most horrific genocides in the space of two years, in Sudan and in Gaza.
We urge all MPs to call on the Government to:
